The Beacon self-catering holiday cottage, is located on the edge of Scourie, on the the north-west coast of Scotland in a scenic area of the Highlands, 95 miles north of Inverness and 40 miles north of Ullapool.

Set in its own garden, The Beacon has stunning views over The Minch: the Outer Hebrides are regularly seen - although this cannot be guaranteed!

The surrounding area is ideal for hillwalking, cycling and fishing. There is an abundance of wildlife; you can watch deer, seals, otters and birds, all within a few minutes of The Beacon.

The Beacon sleeps 6: one double and two twins. We provide linen and towels. The Main Bedroom has an en-suite shower & loo, and there is a house bathroom, with over-bath shower.

The West Wing, added in 2021 adds a new dimension of comfort to The Beacon, especially on rougher days, and with a wood burning stove we hope it will provide year-round cosiness.
On better days, we hope the deck will be a fabulous place to find a little quiet to enjoy the views, or a long lunch!

The large porch, is an excellent space for sandy/muddy/wet arrivals, and a superb drying area, ahem!

The cottage has been recently re-furnished and re-decorated both inside and out.

We also have a 500kbps WiFi ADSL connection for email retrieval and light internet browsing (checking the weather!)

The brand-new (for 2014) fitted kitchen is extremely well equipped, with two fridges, as well as a freezer and a fan-assisted double oven with ceramic hob; there is an automatic washing machine and tumble dryer; the bathroom incorpoates a shower over the bath. The garden has apicnic table and there is a barbeque.

"Whilst working up in Scourie I decided to make a short film displaying the outstanding natural beauty on display in the Scottish Highlands. I have never been somewhere quite as awe-inspiring as the Highlands and I hope the film does it some justice as to how epic it really was!The film was shot over a period of 5 days visiting the following places: Scourie, Badcall Bay, Tarbet, Durness, Smoo Caves, Tongue, Loch Eriboll, Loch Hope, Ben Hope, Kylesku Bridge, Kylesku, Loch Assynt, Ardvreck Castle, Loch inver, Culag Woods, Ullapool and various other places on the A894.

Special thanks to Bass Stewart for the work that took me up there in the first place!"
